Rice-Harvesting in the Fall 2006

　２００６年１０月１４日に開かれた稲刈りの様子です。
The following pictures were taken during the rice-harvesting on October 14, 2006.


本日のスケジュールはこのようになっております。 Today's schedule was something like this.	ＭＣのお二人は森島さんとアンディー M.C. Ms. Morishima with sidekick Andy.

小泉国際交流事業企画運営委員会委員長のあいさつ Mr. Koizumi's opening remarks.

藤田教育長からもごあいさつをいただきました。 Board of Education Superintendent Mr. Fujita gives opening remarks.

増子さんから刈り方のレクチャーを受ける参加者のみなさん Everyone listens carefully to Mr. Mashiko's explanation.

いろんな方向から刈っています。 Many hands make light work. The harvest is almost done.

ハ～イ、アンディーです！新人の那珂川町国際交流員です。どうぞよろしく！ Konnichiwa! I’m Andy, Nakagawa’s new CIR. I learned some Japanese: “kore wa kama desu!”

まだ大分残っています。 Well, actually we aren't that close... lots left!

刈り取った稲は束にして「はって」に掛けて乾かします。 Bundled rice stalks hung to dry.

稲刈り作業も終わり全員集合です。 Everybody smile and say, “happy harvest!”

クイズコーナーではたくさんの賞品をゲットしました。 Time for a quiz! Lots of prizes to be had.

代わるがわる杵を持って餅つきに挑戦しましたが搗き上がるのはいつのことやら！？ Stepping up to the pounded rice cake, a pinch hitter!	餅つきの間増子さんの唄が景気づけをします。 Mr. Mashiko sings while another mallet wielder takes her turn.



長い長い「海苔巻き」づくりに挑戦です。 Could this become the world's longest sushi roll?	ワン、ツー、スリー！息を合わせて、はい、出来上がりました。 In one concerted effort, we did it!

今年もたくさんのご馳走が並びました。 This year another feast!

閉会式での外国人代表のあいさつです。「いい汗をかいた」などと流暢な日本語でのあいさつでした。 A few words from our international guests' representative.

ヴォランティア代表yassanのあいさつです。今年は日本語オンリーでした。（英語ペラペラなのに・・・） Volunteer representative Yassan gives some closing remarks. He speaks both English and Japanese but this year only Japanese.
